Overhauling In Progress

We are in the process of updating policies and the site information in order to open recruiting. We will be opening up Invite privileges for Members and above shortly since the paperwork updates are an ongoing thing.

The main qualification that we are looking for here are people that are fun. Level and such don’t really matter here, we are just looking for folks that everyone enjoys playing with. Don’t get pushy with invites since that’s rude, but don’t hesitate if someone is fun and interested in joining us.

Keep in mind that we will be keeping new invites at the Recruit level for at least a few weeks to make sure they are a good fit for them and us. That discourages people that want to rip off the guild bank, and honest people generally don’t have an issue with it. (For that very reason)

White Christmas Pie

For the filling you will need to:

Soften 1 Tbsp gelatin in 1/4 C. cold water.

Mix together in a saucepan:
1/2 C. sugar
4 Tbsp flour
1/2 tsp salt

Gradually stir in 1 1/2 C. milk

Cook over low heat, stirring until it boils. Boil 1 min. Remove from heat and stir in softened gelatin. Cool. When partially set, beat with a rotary beater until smooth.

Blend in: 3/4 tps vanilla and 1/4 tsp. almond ext.
Gently fold in: 1/2 C whipping cream (whipped until stiff)
Carefuly fold into a meringue of:
3 egg whites
1/4 tsp cream of tarter
12 C. sugar

Fold in 1 C. moist coconut.

Pile into a pie shell. Sprinkle with coconut. Chill until set (about 2 hours) Serve cold. Take pie out of fridge about 20 min. before serving.

This recipe is for a 9in pie.

Kat's Fettucine Sauce

1/2 stick of butter
8 tbsp. Flour
2 cups water
1 1/2 cups heavy cream

Start by melting the butter in a sauce pot/pan/whatever :P. Slowly add flour to the butter, about a half tbsp at a time, mixing it so that there are no lumps. Once flour is mixed in, slowly add water a little at a time, while stirring, also to avoid lumps (we messed up on the previous attempt, and added it all at once... it never really mixed together, and looked more like a nasty gravy attempt >.<). When water is mixed in, let it get to a boil. When boiling, add heavy cream, stirring while adding. Then add the milk, salt, and galric powder, stir, and let simmer, stirring occasionally. Once it's as thick as you like it, you're ready to pour it over your fettucine noodles.

You can also add a light, dry, white wine to the sauce while simmering. Adds a delicious note or two, methinks. Anywho, enjoy!

Great Chicken Soup

3 chicken breasts (any size) cut up however you want
3-4 carrots
3-4 celery sticks
Half of a white/mayan onion (chopped) (( I like mayans because they're sweeter))
2 cloves of garlic (chopped/pressed)
1 can of Italian seasoned stewed tomatoes
Olive oil
Salt/pepper to taste

Put some olive oil into the bottom of a decent sized pot, and heat. When heated, saute the garlic till it starts to clarify a little. Toss in onions and saute till they clarify. Then toss in carrots, celery, tomatoes and chicken. Cover with water then let simmer till chicken's done, stirring occasionally. When finished, you can serve it with some freshly grated parmesan or romano cheese to give it a really nice flavor. And there you have it. The cold killer.

Easy Fajitas

(you can add a little bit of water to the jar and dump it into the skillet to get all the good stuff out if need be, but if you are doing this in the crockpot I dont recomend it.) Cover and cook until meat is done. When done, remove the lid and cook a little longer until thickened.

Scoop into warm tortillas and top with cheese and sour cream.

This dish is very easy to adjust to your personal tastes, or to add and subtract from. As I said eariler, this is one of our favs, so if anyone tries it, please let us know what you think.

I'll admit they are adorable, especially when they are NOT trying to get into stuff. (Does that Ever happen!?) We have two young ones that are a handful (Spike and Sprite), and one that was an adoptee from Petco who is sickly most of the time. (Faye: Very little squiggle in that one, but she is very sweet)

Despite getting nailed in the ear (You see where the name Spike came from?) I do enjoy having them all. I also like to think that they like their home and toys. (One of the wife's Xmas presents was the very expensive 3-level 28"x34"x60something" cage for the fuzzies)

Tech Support: Traceroutes to Game servers for lag issues

This will help you identify lag issues in your network path to the game servers.

('Borrowed' in part from the WoW Tech support forums)

If you need to Traceroute to Anub'arak, use the number provided. Kol's address is below.

Steps to run the Trace Route command (Windows XP/2000):

1) Click Start and then Run
2) Type "command" and press Enter
3) In the command window, type "tracert 72.5.213.113" (without the quotes) and press the Enter key.

Steps to run the Trace Route command (Windows Vista):

1) Click Start and in the "Start Search" field type "command" or "cmd"

You can see that after it hits Blizzard's network (Hop 13) it will be blocked by design and you will only get timeouts after that. I suspect the bbnet2 in that last address is Blizzard's server. (Strange that it routes through Seatle though)

Note! Once it starts doing a timeout it will continue to timeout until it hits 30 hops most of the time. If you get 2 timeouts in a row you can hold the control key and hit the break key to stop the tracert. (On some keyboards and most laptops you may need to hold Function and Control and then hit break)

In my example, hop 1 is my DSL router. On hop 2 I went from 1ms to 70+ ms, which is not great, but it does work. If you see a large jump of in that number (100-300ms or higher) there is likely an issue in that portion of the network. Providing this information to your local ISP *may* help them identify where the problem is. In general, the more information you give your techs, the better they can fix your problem. (Can't tell I work in IT eh?)
