The Brotherhood of Al Policy

** The Guild Policy / Charter **

1.)    Have Fun

a.       This is a game, and we play to have fun. Regardless how often you play, what you play, or how you play, we try to foster a fun atmosphere.

b.      Reality Check: If you are no longer enjoying the game, take a break and come back when you are ready. We have no minimum attendance criteria, so there is no pressure to continue if you are not enjoying yourself.

2.)    Integrity and Respect

a.       While we are not exactly a well-known guild, we don’t have a bad reputation. We would like to keep it that way. (This translates to ‘Don’t be an ass’)

b.      Respect your guild mates even if you don’t get along with them. We don’t expect you to like everyone in the guild, but everyone deserves respect.

c.       Alliance is the enemy. Some of our members operate on a ‘Red is dead’ basis, and some do not. Both are fine. Excessive camping is frowned upon (The 2+ hours type), but killing the enemy is not griefing.

d.      Reality Check: Your actions are representative of the Guild. It takes a long time to build respect and earn a good reputation. It doesn’t take much to destroy that respect or the reputation. Be mindful of the implications of your actions.

3.)    Help Others

a.       We are in this Guild to help one another. Try to be conscious of the fact that people have varying playtime and opportunity to complete non-solo content, and to provide help when you are able.

b.      We are on a PvP server, and as such from time to time one of our members will get ganked. (Getting killed by an enemy player that is 4+ levels higher where you rarely have a chance) We do our best to form up ‘Gank Response Teams’ to come to the rescue. Sometimes we can’t due to other considerations.

c.       Reality Check: This is not an invitation to request power-leveling or constantly taunt Alliance into killing you to initiate PvP battles. No one in the guild is *required* to help out, but the majority of our members will help when they are able. Be mindful that everybody has their own needs too, and try to be patient when looking for help.

4.)    Friends and Family First

a.       This is a game. Real life is not. The guild leadership understands that life comes first. (Or at least it should) People do get called into work, homework doesn’t do itself, and children get sick. Family members also need time, support, and crap definitely DOES happen. We will never think less of you for putting Life first. It’s more important than a game.

b.      Reality Check: There is still common courtesy required for letting people know if you can’t make a raid, instance, or other scheduled event. Please don’t make a habit of leaving guildies wondering what happened to you.

5.)    Commerce

a.       Your guild mates are not there to make you rich. Use the Auction House if you want to add a markup or make profits.

b.      Reality Check: Use common sense here. If a guild member provides the mats, craft it for free. If you need to provide the mats for something, charge the replacement costs for the mats.

6.)    Player Activity

a.       We do not generally remove inactive players from our rolls, but we do occasionally clean things up, so it’s a good idea to refresh your alts once in a while and/or let us know if you will be out of the game for extended time.

b.      Reality Check: We do ask that you let a General or the GM know if you are going to be absent for a period of time. It’s a courtesy thing. If you do let us know your Officer notes will reflect that, and your character will not be eligible for a /gkick if we do decide to clean out the rolls.

7.)    Changing Guilds

a.       Our guild is not for everyone. We understand that. If you wish to leave us and find another guild, we appreciate being notified of your intentions. We ask only for some basic respect, and will gladly put in a good word for you if it’s warranted.

b.      Reality Check: If you are not having fun with us we would prefer you find a situation where you ARE having fun. Staying with the guild you don’t like will ruin the game for you, and probably impact other guildies. (But if it’s something ‘fixable’ then make sure to bring it up!)

8.)    Guild Bank

a.       The guild bank is there to be used. If something is in the bank that would improve your character and you have access and withdraws, take it. If you don’t have access or withdraws, ask an officer for assistance.

b.      Most rank levels do have access to guild bank repairs. Use it as needed, but please help everyone out by donating to the guild bank fund once in a while. (Generally low-level characters are not an issue, but if you are level caped, drop a few quests worth of gold in there once in a while since those 20+G repairs do add up)

c.       The guild bank will be occasionally reviewed by the Officer staff. They will keep the bank trimmed down by vendoring or AHing excess and/or unused items. (The proceeds will then go back into the guild bank)

d.      Reality Check: The guild bank is NOT for individual profit. Anyone found putting guild bank items on the AH will be immediately kicked. (With the exception of Generals that are cleaning up per item C above, since those proceeds go back into the bank)

9.)    Guild Status

a.       New recruits are placed in a recruiting rank for a minimum of two weeks. This allows us to get to know a new player and make sure they are a good fit for the guild. We are primarily looking for people we enjoy playing with.

                                                              i.      Recruits do not have bank access

ii.      The time can and will be extended based on the circumstances at the discretion of the GM and/or the officer staff.

1.      For instance if you join up and go offline for two weeks, you will still be on two week trial. (Assuming you have a good reason for joining and dropping out of sight)

b.      We do have a website, and higher access to the guild bank

c.       Reality Check: This gives us some insight into you as a player, and gives you access to the resources that we put up on the guild site. As we go forward into raiding the website will become essential since we will be using EPGP as we head into 10-man progression. The Raid functionality requires an account and membership to get to it. And really, its not very hard to fill out :P

10.)      Begging (This makes it on the list by itself because it’s *Just* that annoying!)

a.       Begging will not be tolerated in any way, shape, or form. (This includes runs, gold, items, crafting, etc) If you need help, ask a few times in Guild chat. Spamming /Guild or whispering people constantly is not a good thing.

b.      If you can’t find help immediately ask again at a later time. (2 minutes isn’t later) This also includes asking for the same things multiple days in a row. (We would be happy to point you towards the AH or let you know where to go to farm X mat)

c.       Reality Check: Just don’t do it. Not only is it annoying to everyone, it gives people a bad impression of you. Begging can get you demoted or /gkicked. We believe in those that help themselves first. J

11.)      Terms of Service Compliance

a.       You agree to the Blizzard Terms of Service every time the game patches, and we as a guild expect you to follow those rules.

b.      If you are not familiar with the Blizzard policies, you can find them Here

c.       Reality Check: If you Bot, Hack, use a leveling service, buy gold, etc, we will report you and then /gkick you. Those activities destroy the game experience and are banned for a reason, and as such we do not support those in any way, shape, or form.

12.)      Membership Entitlements

a.       You are entitled to have fun.

                                                              i.      If that requires you finding another guild, then we wish you the best of luck finding a better fit. (And if we know of a guild that would suit you we’ll point them out) Seriously, there’s a dream guild out there for everyone

ii.      If there is something going on in the guild that is preventing you from having fun, bring it up to an Officer or the GM. We can’t fix everything, but we would like to know what is killing your fun.

b.      You are entitled to bring up issues

                                                              i.      If you have an issue you can bring it up with any of the Officer staff or the GM. If you don’t feel the Officers are handling things, you can address the issue to the GM.

1.      That does not mean that anything anyone wants will fly, but everyone has a right to be heard

c.       You are entitled to have *Ideas*

                                                              i.      If you have a cool idea about an event or guild activity, bring it up.

ii.      If someone else wants to take your idea and run with it, that’s great! (i.e. someone else does the work)

iii.      If you want to take it and run with it, that’s also great! (i.e. You want to do all the work)

iv.      If you want the guild leadership to take your idea and do all the work, it’s only going to happen if you have ii above

d.      You are entitled to have a voice

                                                              i.      We have a website, with Forums. On many points the GM will post issues and changes on the forums to get comments and feedback. If you want an idea to be considered, shoot something down because you don’t like it, or otherwise comment on something, the forums are the place to do it.

1.      It just requires a guildlaunch account.

a.       DO NOT USE YOUR WoW CREDENTIALS TO MAKE A WEBSITE ACCOUNT

                                                                                                                                      i.      EVER!

e.       You have further entitlements that have not yet been defined J When we get to the point where this needs to be expanded, we will do so.
